If the film stays welded to the tray and cannot be removed by the consumer, the whole pack can be labelled 'Recycle'.
To be clear, we're not saying that the film will be recycled with the tray. As far as the consumer is concerned, they only have a single unit which needs to be disposed of, so only a single label is required to represent the larger packaging component, which in this instance is the tray.
Please note; Defra's Recyclability Assessment Methodology [RAM] currently does not state how these types of packaging should be assessed, any changes to this rule will be communicated to our members along with transition periods for changing labels, should this message change.
